While 36-year-old Serena Williams lost the plot during the final, Naomi Osaka, 16 years her junior, remained cool and calm to become the first Japanese player to win a Grand Slam title. Novak Djokovic claimed the men's title for the third time. The Serb, with 14 majors, equals the feats of his hero Pete Sampras.
