French paleoanthropologist Yves Coppens, who jointly headed a team that found Lucy, a 3.2 million year old prehuman, in Ethiopia in 1974, has just published a book, The present of the past, in France. Now 75-years-old and a household name in France, he still devotes much of his time to trying to unravel the mysteries of human evolution.
