North suffers from oil anxiety
With the possible secession of the south, where most of Sudan’s oil reserves lie, the North’s bad economic situation may soon get worse. The North is already wrestling with soaring inflation and a large foreign debt, and if the South votes in favour of independence on Sunday, it’s unclear how Khartoum and Juba will share future revenues from oil.
