Kurds caught between army and insurgents

Issued on:

For 27 years the Turkish military has battled a stubborn insurgency by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). The Turkish military is currently bombing guerrilla bases located in neighbouring northern Iraq. Kurds are caught between army repression and an authoritarian guerrilla movement, with little room for moderates on either side.
