Prime Minister Moses Ali told parliament Thursday that the two senior ministers had agreed to quit.

MPs greeted the statement with applause and foot stamping. They had issued a 30-day ultimatum to the president to relieve the minister of his duties.

On resigning, BBumba said, "Honorable members, I wish to take political responsibility of the mistakes made and I wish to confirm my resignation, my resignation does not mean however that I am quality, I am still innocent.

"I have contributed to the liberation of this country. As a young girl, I came to political life in 1996 and up to date I have been the minister."

She also thanked the president for allowing to work a minister for the last 15 years.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga struggled to maintain order throughout the session.

Makubuya quoted the Bible, shouting on top of his voice, "There is time for everything, there is time to be a minister and time to cease, Madam Speaker, honorable members thank you for listening to me."

Makubuya said as he laid a number of letters on the table insisting that he did his work as an attorney general.

Members of parliament have been demanding that President Yoweri Museveni relieve the two ministers of their duties as the house was debating the public accounts committee report.

It is now expected that the two ministers will be investigated by the government and CID.

About 190 MPs had signed the call for Makubuya, who is the minister of general duties in the office of the prime minister, to go and 187 signed an appeal against Bbumba, the minister of gender.
