Canada slashes aid to seven African nations

There are media reports in Canada that the government is planning to slash foreign aid to seven African nations. Five - Malawi, Niger, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe - are expected to lose virtually all Canadian aid. Funding to two other countries - Mozambique and Tanzania - is set to be rolled back. Gerald Caplan is the author of The Betrayal of Africa, and a Canadian consultant who has worked in Africa for both the United Nations and the African Union talked to RFI.
