Protest votes and outside interference in Egypt's presidential election

In Egypt, polling closed late last night in the country’s landmark presidential election runoff. Former prime minister under Hosni Mubarak, Ahmed Shafiq, was up against the Muslim Brotherhood’s US-educated Mohamed Moursi. Many Egyptian revolutionaries saw the second round ballot as leaving them with the two worst possible scenarios - an Islamist state, or a replica of Mubarak’s regime. RFI speaks to Hassan Nafaa - Political Scientist at Cairo University - about the protest vote and foreign interference in the country’s politics.
