Rwanda's gacaca trials officially wound up this week at a well-attended ceremony at the parliamentary Buildings in Kimihurura, Kigali. Speakers, led by President Paul Kagame, paid glowing tribute to gacaca judges and the Rwandan community in general, for making them a success. Prime Minister Pierre Damien Habumuremyi also atttended the ceremony on Monday, which also marked 10 years since the courts were first established. Phil Clark, a lecturer at the London University's School of Oriental and African Studies, discusses the special local courts that tackled the aftermath of genocide.
