The French organization, Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières - MSF), has put out a call for money to finance its operations in South Sudan. MSF has been operating in four refugee camps in the area, including the Yida camp close to the border with South Sudan.

More than 170 thousand people from Sudan's Blue Nile and South Kordofan states have crossed the border to flee fighting and food insecurity.

The recent influx of refugees is also connected to the current rainy season that has been hampering aid operations.

Overcrowding is rife.

In the Yida camp, which hosts 55 thousand people, five children die from diarrhea and other severe infections each day. And one child out of three suffers from malnutrition.

RFI spoke to Johan Sommansson, a MSF worker just back from the Yida camp.
