Egypt's Coptic Christians vote Monday for a new spiritual leader. Back in March Pope Shenouda III died after having led the the church for four decades. He was revered by many for his ability to work with other religious leaders, both within the Christian and Muslim communities. The Coptic church believes Saint Mark brought Christianity to Egypt and thus maintains its spirtual leader in the country. It has no ties with the Catholic Pope in the Vatican, but it does have a connection to the orthodox church in both Ethiopia and Eritrea, a leading coptic author explains.
