Issued on:

Religious tensions in northern Nigeria have been heightened following the suicide bombings of churches and other violent attacks on Christians by the Islamist group Boko Haram. Nigeria is divided between a predominantly Muslim north and Christian-dominated south. Many Christians living in the north have been fleeing to the south to escape the violence and this has led to growing tensions between Christians and Muslims.
