Malian villagers and the war

Issued on:

During the intervention in northern Mali most of the attention has been focused on the military options taken up by the French forces. But what about ordinary Malians, what do they think? Jaimie Bleck, a researcher from the University of Notre Dame co-authored a report with Kristin Michelitch. In January 2012 they visited 10 villages in central/northern Mali speaking to more than 500 villagers to find out how they felt about impending military action and how Mali's problems could be prevented from being repeated in the future.
