A respected anti-apartheid activist and former World Bank director is expected to announce today that she is launching a new South African political party. Mamphela Ramphele is set to make a statement this morning about her political plans on Constitution Hill in Johannesburg. She is entering the political arena without a grassroots network, meaning her party may not win many votes in presidential elections next year. Justin McCarthy, a businessman and commentator, says tackling South Africa's ruling party is going to be an uphill battle.
