Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has declared the Islamist group Boko Haram and its splinter group Ansaru to be terrorist organizations. This means anyone who supports them could face a 20-year-jail sentence. Until now, members of these 2 organisations could only be prosecuted for specific crimes like murder or fire arms possession. RFI spoke to Dr Ademola Abass, researcher at the United Nations University Institute for Comparative Regional Integration Studies in Belgium.
