Egypt criticises Western media coverage

Egypt has condemned "unbalanced coverage" by media foreign outlets working in the country. In a statement released on Wednesday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that coverage of last Sunday's protests to mark the anniversary of the 2011 revolution "failed to convey the reality."

In a statement, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said that foreign coverage "turned a blind eye to acts of killing, burning and horror," committed by the Muslim Brotherhood.

It also condemned what they say is a lack of attention to attacks on security forces and public services that happen regularly across the country.

The statement also criticised coverage of the death of protestor Samaii al Sabbagh.

It added that government statement vowing that her killers will be brought to justice have been ignored.

A range of photo and video footage from the scene shows Sabbagh being shot, with masked security personnel not far behind.

On Wednesday, an Egyptian police general told reporters that photos from the scene prove nothing.

Last Sunday saw hundreds of people take to the streets to mark the fourth anniversary of the 2011 uprising.

Clashes have continued in the Al Mataria district of Cairo, leading to the deaths of at least 18 people.

Sorry but the period of time connection to the operation is exceeded.
