Egypt inaugurates new Suez Canal
The new Suez Canal channel was inaugurated, and celebrated, yesterday in Egypt. In a party where François Hollande was named the guest of honour, Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah al-Sisi declared that the project had "made history". The Egyptian government has previously described the project as a "gift from Egypt to the rest of the world". But is it a gift to the Egyptian people who funded it?
