Dakar's platform for engaged women goes digital

Issued on:

In the mid 1960s, the first women's magazine published in French-speaking Africa and produced entirely in Dakar, was created by a group of  intellectuals. For the first time black women in Senegal had a magazine just for them that dealt with critical thinking, women's political engagement, gender inequalities, education and entertainment in sub-Saharan Africa.
