Whistle-blower Snowden seeks asylum

Issued on:

An Icelandic businessman linked to Wikileaks says he has prepared a private plane to take US whistleblower Edward Snowden to Iceland should the government grant him asylum. Snowden has been hiding out in Hong Kong since exposing secret US surveillance programmes. The businessman, Olaru Vignir Sigurvinsson, is a former director of a company that processed payments for WikiLeaks. Alla Amundadottir of Iceland's Pirate Party member hopes Snowden can go to Iceland.
