French electro duo Daft Punk win big at the Grammys

French electro duo Daft Punk won record of the year at the US Grammy award ceremony in Los Angeles, where they were also named best artist.

Along with the prestigious best album and best record Grammys, Daft Punk also won best dance/electronica Album for "Random Access Memories", best pop duo for "Get Lucky" and best engineered non-classical album.

After Daft Punk's five awards, Macklemore and Lewis racked up four Grammys including the prize for best new artist.

New Zealand teen songstress Lorde won the other major prize of the night, best song for her mega hit "Royals".

The music industry's big night also turned into a mass wedding and gay marriage celebration led by Madonna and other stars.

Queen Latifah, who is authorized to conduct weddings in California, married 34 gay and heterosexual couples during the ceremony.

The helmeted Daft Punk, who rarely speak in public, accepted their awards and praised the wedding as "fantastic".
