Captured gunmen take guards hostage after Peshawar attack
Islamist prisoners have taken two guards hostage in an army building in north-west Pakistan. They had been captured when they attacked a secure area near the US consulate in the provincial capital, Peshawar.

"Some of the terrorists who were kept in a building for interrogations overpowered their two sentries during interrogations," military spokesperson Major General Athar Abbas told
private TV channel Geo. "Terrorists are still inside the building, we are making all our efforts to solve this problem."
Police said that the army had sealed off the site and that intermittent gunfire continued on Saturday afternoon and helicopters flew overhead.
Early in the morning armed men attacked army buildings near the consulate, exchanging fire with security forces.
Some of the attackers were captured but apparently overpowered two sentries during interrogation.
