Indian's government has offered hunger strike activist Anna Hazare a series of compromises in their dispute over an anti-corruption bill before parliament. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is urging Hazare - who is 74 years old and in his 9th day of fasting - to end his hunger strike. But Hazare has said he will continue fasting unless parliament adopts his own, more aggressive, version of the bill by the end of the month. Singh said yesterday he would ask a parliamentary committee to review Hazare's version, and senior government ministers are in talks with three top Hazare aides. Hazare has lost five kilos and his campaign for stronger anti-graft laws is gaining momentum.
