The plight of Badi women in Nepal

Issued on:

In the first of a five-part series which will run over the week, RFI takes a look at aspects of Nepal that don't normally make the headlines. Today RFI looks at Badi women, who are forced to make a living as sex workers because of their low caste. In recent years, the government has offered small stipends and started alternative employment programs for the community. But in the impoverished western part of the country, Badi women are still trapped in a life of degradation.
