Confidence vote blow to Vietnamese PM

Confidence vote blow to Vietnamese PM

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has suffered a setback after a third of lawmakers in the one-party state voted against him in a first-ever confidence vote. The vote is seen as a bid to deflect growing public anger against the communist regime. Lawmakers were asked to express either "low confidence", "confidence", or "high confidence" in  officials. Those with more than 50 per cent "low confidence" votes for two consecutive years could be asked to resign. Analyst Jonathan London looks at the impact of the vote on the country's politcal landscape.
