Hollande will visit Sydney and Canberra on 18-19 November to "strengthen the historic links and economic relations" between France and Australia, an Elysée statement said.

He will be accompanied by a large business delegation and meet Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

In 2012 France and Australia signed a Strategic Partnership agreement to strengthen ties in political, defence, security, economic and development fields.

According to official Australian government figures, trade in goods and services between the countries was worth 5.4 billion euros in 2012-2013.
