Tripoli residents try to rebuild town after renewed violence in Lebanon

Issued on:

The northern Lebanese city of Tripoli has been the scene of intermittent violence since the end of Lebanon's civil war in 1995. However the civil war in neighbouring Syria has reignited violence... not only between the minority Alawite community and Sunni Muslims, but also with the residents of Tripoli and the Lebanese Army. In late October, fighting reached its worst level in over a decade, leading to battles between jihadist militants and the army that engulfed the main part of Tripoli. Now, residents are trying to repair their damaged town.
