India uses French technology in clean water drive

Issued on:

India's biggest experiment with bottled drinking water is unfolding in some remote villages in the eastern state of West Bengal - close to neighbouring Bangladesh. Once forced to drink arsenic- contaminated ground water, villagers are now purifying water from ponds and selling packaged safe drinking water to neighbouring villages. Thanks to an innovative French technology that purifies contaminated water from lakes and ponds, residents have now access to safe drinking water.
