In India, there are fears that fast demographic growth is stifling economic opportunity. More than half of the country’s billion-strong population is under the age of 30, and many of them are frustrated with the lack of career perspectives. The International Labour Organisation stated in a recent report that unemployment has rocketed over the years, as the government struggles to create new jobs. In the first of a two-part series, RFI correspondent Murali Krishnan examines the problems that dogs the unemployed youth and what needs to be done to defuse what’s become a ticking time bomb.
