A hidden gem - Tblisi's Academy of Art

Described by one French guidebook as possessing the Georgian capital's "most stunning interior", Tblisi's Academy of Art is not open to the public. I was shown around by the academy's Natia Ebanoidze and photographed its hidden treasures - from the breathtaking room of mirrors to a vase portraying the life of Stalin, which was presented to the Soviet dictator on his birthday.

The academy's website gives an account of its history, as well as providing information about its current projects, departments and courses.  RFI's Facebook page gives an account of a recent RFI-sponsored training programme at Tblisi's Gipa institute.
