Look at that beautiful link to the Sound Kitchen Listeners Cookbook! It actually happened! I’m very happy about it, and I hope you enjoy looking at it – and trying out some recipes. Please feel free to send in any comments you have, and we would love it if you’d send in photos – of you, and your completed dish. Don’t hesitate to use the “zoom” tool on countries where there are a lot of forks; that will separate them so you can read the titles easier. Click on the title, and the recipe will appear.

Also, if you are interested in corresponding with other Sound Kitchen listeners, let me know. I’ll figure out a way to get you together.

Today’s question was read on 29 December, and was a political question about Japan. That week Japan’s parliament formally elected a new prime minister. My question to you was: who is he, and what is the name of his party?

The answer is: Shinzo Abe of the Liberal Democratic Party. Abe has been Japan’s prime minister before – he served just a bit under a year, from September 2006 to September 2007, and then resigned. He is generally described as an “outspoken nationalist”.

The winners this week are: Sirajuddin Nizamani of the Nizamani International Listeners Club in Badin-Sindh, Pakistan; Ms Resha Prakash from Kathmandu, Nepal; Mrs Reema Goyal from the SW Listeners League in Punjab, India; Kolawole Olulana from Lagos, Nigeria, and Edmund Agyeman, from Accra, Ghana – who sent in his answer from his cellphone by SMS.

Congratulations winners!

This week’s question is about sailing – and sailing for crazy people (at least in my humble opinion). You never know what makes people tick, but sailing, completely alone, around the world, really seems to do it for some people. So, the world obliges with competitions, and the Vendée Globe (La Vendée is in the west of France, on the Atlantic Ocean) is one of those. It was started in 1989 and French sailors have won every competition since it started. This year, a Frenchman won again – he not only beat the other sailors to the finish mark, he beat the round-the-world record.

My question to you is: What is the name of the Frenchman - who, by the way, was the youngest skipper in the race – and what was his final time? How long did it take this young man to sail around the world, completely alone? If you’ve been paying attention to our news broadcasts, you know the answer!

Get your answer in by 4 March, and be sure and tune in on 9 March to see if you are one of the lucky winners! As always, be sure you send your postal address in with your answer … and, if you have one, your RFI Listeners Club membership number.
