Tensions between The Philippines and Taiwan on the South China Sea

Tensions are mounting in the South China Sea following last week's deadly shooting of a Taiwanese fisherman whose vessel reportedly drifted into Filipino waters. In retaliation,Taiwan has imposed sanctions, including suspending the hiring of new workers from the Philippines. The Taiwanese government also rejected an apology by President Beningo Aquino.Josua Mata, the Secretary General of the Philippine's Alliance of Progressive Labor, told RFI the incident should be a wake up call for countries in the region to end decades of maritime territorial disputes.
