The 28-year old, whose real name is Paul van Haver, won Best Male artist, Best Album for “Racine Carrée” and Best Video for his song “Formidable” [Wonderful].
The awards were handed out at the Zénith theatre in Paris on Friday.
Stromae lost the Original Song of the year award to veteran rocker Johnny Hallyday and his son “20 ans” [20 years].
Hallyday wasn’t on hand to accept the award, but thank fans via twitter.
Vanessa Paradis was crowned Female Artist of the year, the only woman to win the prize three times. The first time she won was in 1990.
The French electro duo Daft Punk, which won five gongs at last month’s Grammys including the coverted Album of the Year, were notably absent from the awards after refusing to participate.
Reports suggest the duo feel they have been snubbed by selectors in the past. They have never won an award at Victoires de la Musique.
