Hello everyone!

Welcome to The Sound Kitchen. You can catch the programme on-the-air every Saturday, at 4:52, 6:22, and 7:52 universal time. You’ll hear the winner’s names announced and the week’s quiz question, along with all the other ingredients you have grown accustomed to: your letters and essays, “On This Day”, quirky facts and news, interviews, and great music … so be sure and tune in every Saturday.

This week’s quiz: On 15 November, I asked you a question about the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, which had opened that week in Beijing. There was a very interesting sideline meeting during the forum, between two heads of state who have been involved in a territorial dispute for the past two years. I asked you to write in with the names of the two Asian leaders who met in Beijing during the APEC Forum, shook hands, and actually spoke to each other. You were also to send in the name of the territory which is the cause of the quarrel.

The answer is: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The two countries are quarrelling over islands in the East China Sea, which are called Diaoyu by China, and Senkaku by Japan. They are controlled by Japan.

The winners this week are: RFI Listeners Club member Jean-Maurice Devault from Montreal, Canada; Kevin Zhao from Shanghai, China; Humphrey C. Phiri of Lusaka, Zambia; Ujwal Babu from Kathmandu, Nepal, and Mohammad Swopan, a member of the RFI Fan Club in Naogaon, Bangladesh.

Congratulations, winners!
