Hello everyone!

Welcome to The Sound Kitchen. You can catch the programme on-the-air every Saturday at 6:15, 7:15, 14:45 and 16:45 universal time. You never know … and be sure and send us your reception reports. Maybe we can get more time, which would be wonderful.

You can also hear our programs on WRMI and WRN. These broadcasters diffuse our programs out of the goodness of their hearts, but unless you tell us how you heard us, we have no way of knowing … so do write and tell us how you listen to us.

This week’s quiz: On 20 May, Aidan asked you a dinosaur question: That week, paleontologist Darla Zelenitsky and her colleagues at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada made a startling discovery … for 25 years researchers have been trying to solve the mystery of “Baby Louis”, a 90-million-year-old fossilized dinosaur embryo. “Baby Louis” was found among a clutch of eggs in Henan Province in central China in the 1990’s. Scientists ever since have been trying to figure out what laid the eggs. To no avail, until mid-May when Dr Zelenitsky and her team linked the orphaned dinosaurs with their prehistoric lineage … and that was your question. You were to write in with the name of the dinosaur species which were the parents of Baby Louie and the other eggs found in that nest in Henan Province in central China in the 1990’s.

The answer is: Baby Louie and its kin belong to a group of large, birdlike dinosaurs known as giant oviraptorosaurs. They resembled ostriches and cassowaries – another flightless bird - but were about as heavy as a rhino and as tall as an elephant. Baby Louie is the first discovered member of a new species of giant oviraptorosaur called Beibeilong sinensis, which roughly means “Chinese baby dragon.”

The winners are: Long-time RFI Listeners Club member Behzad Payandeh from Tehran, Iran; Saidul Islam, a member of the Nilshagor RFI Fan Club in Nilphamari, Bangladesh; Lavly Khaton, a member of the Lolona Listeners Club in Naogaon, Bangladesh; Yaw Agyaako Attuah from Kumasi, Ghana, and Royse Cramton from Oak Park, Illinois in the US.

Congratulations winners!
