This week on The Sound Kitchen, you’ll hear the answer to the question about the Nigerian presidential contenders. There’s the listener mailbag, some great music, and of course, the new quiz question. So click on that little “Listen” arrow above, and join in!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to The Sound Kitchen. You can catch the programme on-the-air every Saturday, at our new times: 6:15, 6:45, 14:45 and 16:45 universal time. You’ll hear the winner’s names announced and the week’s quiz question, along with all the other ingredients you have grown accustomed to: your letters and essays, “On This Day”, quirky facts and news, interviews, and great music … so be sure and tune in every Saturday.

This week’s quiz: On 14 February, I asked you about Nigeria’s presidential elections, which were originally scheduled for that day. The polls were postponed - concerns over security were cited as the reason – and today, 28 March, is the day Nigerians are voting. I asked you to send in the names of the top two most-likely-to-win presidential contenders in Nigeria, and the names of their political parties.

The answer is: Nigeria’s standing president, Goodluck Jonathan, of the Peoples' Democratic Party, and Muhammadu Buhari, of the All Progressives Congress.

The winners this week are:  Baimba Tejan from Monrovia, Liberia; Mrs Sworna Khaton of the Lolona Listeners Club in Naogaon, Bangladesh; Fansu Bolong Janneh, from Banjul, The Gambia; Wirsiy Divine Peeters Bobongha from Bamenda, Cameroon, and RFI Listeners Club member Jayanta Chakrabarty from New Delhi, India.

Congratulations, winners!

This week’s question... you'll have to listen to the show to participate! You have until 27 April to enter this week's quiz. The winners will be announced on the 2 May program. When you enter, be sure you send your postal address in with your answer … and, if you have one, your RFI Listeners Club membership number.
