European aerospace Airbus would deliver 25 A350-900S - the company's newest long-haul carrier- to Delta Airlines, an anonymous source close to the negotiations told AFP on Thursday.
Another 25 planes will be A330-neos - with fuel-saving engines - which should enter into service in 2017.
"The deal should be signed in the coming days and announced next week" said the source.
Both Boeing and Airbus submitted offers to Delta airlines and the A350-900 is competing with Boeing 777s and 787s.
Earlier in November, Airbus announced an 8.1 billion-euro deal with the Chinese Aircraft Leasing Company to deliver 100 planes.
