Thirteen people remain under arrest in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, after being detained last Thursday over an alleged plot to overthrow President Omar al-Bashir. Among the suspected plotters is Lieutenant Colonel Salah Abdallah Gosh, an advisor to the president and the former head of the National Security and Intelligence Services. Opposition parties and pro-democracy activists say the arrests were motivated by president Bashir's dislike of Gosh's popularity at home and abroad. RFI spoke to Miriam al-Mahdi the spokesperson of the opposition Umma party.
