Zimbabwe's land reform generated controversy when "war veterans" occupied 4,000 white farms a decade ago. But a new book, Zimbabwe Takes Back Its Land, argues that the land distribution was a major success. One of its authors admits that many of President Robert Mugabe’s cronies benefited from this land distribution. But Joseph Hanlon says black farmers who took charge are doing relatively well.
