Slideshow: Mali after presidential poll first round

With no official winner announced in the first round of Mali’s presidential election on Sunday, supporters of the 27 candidates were waiting with baited breath for official results and trying to calculate their own. With some predicting that Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta could have won 50 per cent in the first round, his opponents were anxious that a second round be held.
