The Boeing 777 disappeared on 8 March last year, inexplicably veering off course en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.
The two-metre-long wing fragment was flown to France for tests by aviation experts.
In the statement Thursday prosecutors said investigators discovered three numbers on the wing part and later concluded that one of the figures corresponded to the MH 370 serial number
Malaysian officials said that the part came from the plane shortly after its discovery a month ago.
