Issued on:

To combat low job creation and the high unemployment rate of nearly 50 percent in Senegal, entrepreneurship is seen as one method of encouraging bright young graduates into the workplace, but it’s not the only thing. Women’s associations are setting up more and more collectives to allow the older generation to make a living by growing and manufacturing local produce into profitable collaborations. The corporate social responsibility network of Senegal works to bridge the gap between these micro entrepreneurs and multinationals that can provide small enterprises a sustainable means of development. Emmanuelle Landais reports from Dakar.
