Gulf Oil Spill
BP oil well cap holds, although some pressure anomalies
Engineers tested BP’s Gulf of Mexico oil well for leaks on Saturday. They said a giant cap installed two days ago appeared to be working although there was some ambiguity about pressure readings. Tests will continue until late on Saturday. Experts are considering two scenarios – lower pressure indicating a depleted reservoir, or a leak somewhere within the well itself. A permanent solution to the leak is expected mid-August.
