The legendary French singer Edith Piaf would have been 100 this year. To mark the anniversary, Paris’s national library, the BnF, launches a major exhibition in tribute to the street singer who became one of French music's most famous voices and a popular idol for a whole generation.
Documents, film footage and a wealth of personal memorabilia, including her unique black dress, trace her short but action-packed life, her passion for song and friendship.
Piaf continues to inspire. We visit the exhibition with French singer Caroline Nin whose show Hymne à Piaf runs at the Essaion theatre in Paris from 23 April to 1 August.
