The French government says Kuwait is buying 24 Caracal helicopters, with an option for a further six.

Other deals include the provision of French light armoured vehicles and patrol boat maintenance.

Kuwait is said to be looking to upgrade its military equipment amid increased regional security concerns linked to the Islamic State fighters.

Wednesday's deals were signed during the visit of Kuwait's prime minister, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad al-Sabah,  to Paris.
