In Britain the use of “legal highs” - narcotic drugs that are not banned - is on the rise. According to official figures from Britain's Office for National Statistics, the number of deaths related to their use rose by 79 per cent from 2011 to 2012. The British government brought new drugs under legal control two years ago by placing them under temporary 12-month bans. Methoxetamine, a drug imitating the tranquilliser ketamine, was the first legal high banned under these new powers last year.
