"We are all in agreement that Bashar al-Assad has no future in Syria any more and his family have no future in Syria any more," SNC leader Ahmed Jarba said at a press conference following the meeting with ministers from the 11 countries that make up the Friends of Syria.
And Fabius inisited that Geneva 2 must and will take place to bring peace to the country, Fabius said.
Both declared that Sunday's meeting had been a success but neither clarified whether the opposition will attend.
The opposition has been reluctant to go without a commitment that Assad will go or at least the ceasing of the use of heavy weapons and the opening of humanitarian corridors.
The SNC is to meet to discuss participation again on 17 January.
