France orders Brussels Jewish Museum shooting suspect's extradition

The French national suspected of shooting dead four people at the Brussels Jewish Museum last month is to be extradited to Belgium.

A French court on Thursday ordered the extradition to Belgium of Mehdi Nemmouche, the Franco-Algerian suspected of the deadly shooting in the Brussels Jewish Museum last May.

The prosecutor said that the court decision implements "a European arrest warrant (...) for murder in a terrorist context."

Nemmouche, 29,  was arrested in Marseille several days after the attack.

He now has three days to appeal.

Although Nemmouche said he was not opposed to his transfer to Belgium as long as he would not be sent on to a third country - in this case, Israel -, his lawyer Apolin Pepiezep said on Thursday that "he will certainly appeal".
