France continues to rally support for a punitive military strike against the regime of Syria's President Bashar al-Assad. President François Hollande has urged France’s European partners to support military strikes in response to a chemical weapons attack on 21 August in Damascus, allegedly perpetrated by the regime. Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius is to address parliament on Wednesday during a discussion on the French response – which will not end in a vote. But not all lawmakers back Hollande’s call for a military intervention. Paul Quilès, a former MP, who served as Defense Minister under the previous Socialist government, told RFI he is wary of a military intervention.
