Over 200 operators licenced to fly civilian drones in France

Issued on:

On 19 December, France received two US serveillance drones, to be deployed in the Sahel. But drone technology is not just for military purposes. France became the first country in the world to regulate its airspace for civilian drones, in 2012. Today, over 200 operators have licenses to fly the unmanned aerial devices. RFI meets some of these new air pioneers, many of which, like Skydrone, use them to provide aerial footage; others are using them to collect data, like Airinov, which is pointing drone-mounted cameras at agricultural fields.
