Two brothers killed in an avalanche in the French Alps
The body of a mountain-climber that had gone missing after an avalanche in the Mont-Blanc massif in eastern France was recovered Friday, a day after the body of his brother was also found, according to the rescue team.

The body of the young man in his twenties was discovered at “an altitude of 2,200 metres at the bottom of the avalanche in a zone that had been hidden by a cloud layer the day before,” the police said.
On Thursday the cadaver of the first mountain-climber aged 22 had been recovered on the glacier of Armancette, a 500 meters-wide steep glacier with 600 meters of difference in height in the Mont-Blanc massif.
“The fierceness of the fall was the cause of death,” the rescuers said, adding that “the two young brothers were well-equipped and experienced mountaineers”.
The search for the bodies had started Wednesday night after close family members reported the two young men had gone missing in this part of the Alps.
