Britain's envoy to Yemen Timothy Torlot escaped a bomb triggered by a bomber on Monday. The assailant threw himself at the ambassador's convoy in the capital Sanaa, according to officials.

Torlot was not hurt in the attack, which was carried out by a suicide bomber. Two bystanders were lightly wounded, said medical staff on the scene.
Witnesses said the bomber botched the attack and actually hit the police car escorting the ambassador's car, about 600 metres from the embassy.
The attacker's body was obliterated in the blast and his head flew some 60 metres
from the scene landing in a nearby house, according to witnesses.
The British Foreign Office confirmed that the ambassador escaped an explosion, but did not specify whether it was a suicide attack or not.
It added that the embassy will remain closed for now, and advised British nationals to remain vigilant and "keep a low profile."
